Campobaja pop- up, Revelry moves and more

- By Allyson Reedy, The Denver Post

If you can’t make it to Mexico City’s hip Roma neighborhood over the next couple of months for dinner, you might try heading to Denver’s RiNo instead.

From June 14 to Aug. 14, Campobaja, a seafood restaurant based in Mexico’s capital, will open an American outpost at Zeppelin Station. It’s part of the food hall’s Made in a City pop- up. ( Earlier this year, a restaurant and artists from Reykjavik, Iceland, took over part of the food and retail space.)

At Made in Mexico City, Campobaja chef Alejandro Zarate will make Denverites tacos and tostadas with octopus, shrimp aguachile, scallops and some meat and vegetable options. Joining the restaurant for the summer is Licorería Limantour, named the best bar in Latin America by the World’s 50 Best list.

Limantour is making a special cocktail menu for the occasion and also coming to Denver for a bar takeover July 12- 14. There are more things Made in Mexico City — knitwear, graphic tees, home goods — and some things made in Colorado, like Fortuna chocolate, coming along, too.

The summer- long event kicks off June 15 from 7 p. m. to midnight with a free- toattend launch party including mezcal and tequila tastings.

The North Denver brunch destination Revelry Kitchen has closed on 38th Avenue, but it won’t be gone for good. According to its Facebook page, the 4year- old restaurant is moving and will reopen after a “short lapse in service.”

Revelry opened in the summer of 2015 at the corner of West 38th Avenue and Raleigh Street. The Denver Post reviewed it that fall, calling chef Enrique Socarras’ Northside Rancheros — corn tortillas stacked with refritos and asadero cheese, then smothered in eggs and chile rojo — one of the best breakfast dishes of the year.

Five Colorado cities are among the top 20 in the nation in breweries per capita, according to a study released this week by C+ R Research.

The marketing firm ranked more than 500 cities across the United States by their number of breweries, and Boulder, Fort Collins, Loveland, Denver and Longmont all made the top 20.

The city with the most breweries per capita was Portland, Maine.

More surprising, perhaps, than Colorado’s representation — with more cities than any other state in the top 25 — are the “most popular” breweries in each place based on Google searches.

In Colorado’s five top brewing cities, the mostsearched breweries are

Sanitas Brewing ( Boulder), New Belgium Brewing ( Fort Collins), Loveland Aleworks ( Loveland), Breckenridge

Brewery ( Denver) and Wibby Brewing ( Longmont).

Sanitas, Loveland and Wibby are all considered micro breweries by the B. A. So three breweries that make less than 15,000 barrels of beer a year are some of the most popular in the state.
