CALIPARI SIGNS $86M, 10-YEAR EXTENSION WITH KENTUCKY

» Kentucky coach John Calipari has signed a 10-year contract extension through 2029 worth $86 million that includes an option in the sixth year to step down and become a special assistant to the athletic director or university representa­tive.

The 60-year-old Calipari and the school previously announced an agreement to a long-term deal in April. The 11th-year coach will earn $8 million each of the next two seasons before his salary increases to $8.5 million annually in 2021 and $9 million annually in 2025. Beginning with the 2024-25 season, Calipari has the option to step down and into the university position that will pay $950,000 annually.

» A person with knowledge of the situation says Goran Dragic has told the Miami Heat that he is exercising his $19.2 million option for next season. Dragic was limited to 36 games for the Heat last season, averaging 13.7 points and 4.8 assists — which are also the same averages for his 11-year career with Miami, Phoenix and Houston. He had until later in the month to decide on his option, and the move means he can now be included in trades if the Heat are so inclined. .

China beats South Africa 1-0 to set up decider vs. Spain.

China is back on track at the Women’s World Cup, tied for second in Group B after a 1-0 victory in South Africa, and focused on it goal of moving into the next round of the tournament. China, evened with Spain at three points each, lost its opener but stayed calm in Thursday night’s second match as the squad tries to join group leader Germany in the last 16.

Earlier Thursday, an own goal gave Australia a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Brazil, spoiling Marta’s record 16th career goal in the tournament. Marta, who sat out of Brazil’s opener because of a left thigh injury, became the first player to score in five different World Cups by converting a penalty kick in the 27th minute.

Report: NFL investigat­ing Texans for tampering over Caserio.

, tampering charges against the Texans after the Patriots accused them of contacting New England director of player personnel Nick Caserio for the Houston general manager job.

ESPN.com reported that New England complained to the league after Texans executive vice president of team developmen­t Jack Easterby, a former Patriots chaplain, attended the team’s championsh­ip ring ceremony at the home of owner Robert Kraft. The Texans fired GM Brian Gaine the next day, less than 18 months after he took over the job.

The Texans have requested permission to interview Caserio, but it has not been given, the website said.

FL A. schools are going to be facing allegation­s of Level I violations as early as next month, the latest fallout in the college basketball corruption scandal.

Stan Wilcox, vice president for regulatory affairs for the NCAA, tells CBS Sports two high-profile programs will be notified in early July, the others at a later date.

Level I violations can include such punishment­s as scholarshi­p reductions, postseason bans and showcause orders against coaches.

Maximum Security to race for 1st time since Kentucky Derby.

Maximum Security is . heading back to the races. The colt, who two months ago crossed the finish line first in the Kentucky Derby only to be disqualifi­ed, was among six 3-year-olds entered Thursday for the $150,000 Pegasus Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday. Maximum Security drew the No. 2 post position and was made the overwhelmi­ng 1-2 favorite. — The Associated Press
