Adults looking for new careers can get training
CrossPurpose is looking for adults who want to change their lives by enrolling in its six-month career and development program aimed at helping people gain employment skills and placing them into higher paying careers.
Krystal Kilpatrick is among the 200 graduates who have experienced tremendous success thanks to CrossPurpose.
Prior to completing the program, Kilpatrick lived in transitional housing at Warren Village.
“I was the true definition of popular party girl turning a new leaf,” she said. “I went from having nothing but food stamps and a GED, to working in a prestigious law firm.”
Today, she earns a healthy salary and is able to provide a stable home for her child. She credits the program with transforming her life and believes it can help other adults who are struggling to make ends meet.
Students enrolled in the program spend the first six weeks at a training camp in Denver learning skills such as customer service, conflict resolution, resume writing and interviewing. Afterward they enroll in formal education that enables them to earn a certificate or complete an apprenticeship or internship. There are 16 career tracks individuals can opt to study, including the medical, legal, accounting, IT, banking, HVAC and construction industries.
While enrolled in the program, participants receive a monthly stipend to help them maintain housing and pay their bills. They are also connected to mentors who share advice and support.
“We specialize in being barrier busters. Our leaders gain job skills development, career support and connections to the community,” CrossPurpose CEO Jason Janz said.
“Everyone should know they have greatness inside of them,” Kilpatrick said.
Information sessions are held at CrossPurpose, 3050 Richard Allen Court in Denver.
