A look at Denver’s must-see home games

The Nuggets released their schedule for the 2019-20 season on Monday, and there are plenty of tasty matchups to look forward to. The regular season begins Oct. 23 at Portland and is followed by the home opener two days later against Phoenix on Friday, Oct. 25.

Here are 10 of our favorites coming to the Pepsi Center this season:

10. Milwaukee, Monday, March 9 (ALT) — The Nuggets

beat every team in the NBA last season except for two: Milwaukee and Brooklyn. Without a versatile, two-way wing on the roster, Giannis Antetokoun­mpo was just a terrible matchup for them. He averaged 25.5 points on 58 percent shooting in 38 minutes per game — the most against any team in the NBA.

9. Philadelph­ia, Friday, Nov. 8

(ALT) — Nikola Jokic got 59 firstplace votes last season en route to his first-team all-NBA selection. Joel Embiid earned 40. The debate raged on throughout the second half of the season last year: Who is the NBA’s best center? Jokic finished fourth in MVP voting, essentiall­y validating that he had the better year. There is no doubt Embiid will take this game personally. 8. San Antonio, Monday, Feb. 10 (ALT) — In retrospect, the Spurs were the perfect team to usher the Nuggets into their new postseason era. They had star talent (DeMar DeRozan, LaMarcus Aldridge), overachiev­ing young players (CU’s own Derrick White) and a legendary coach, Gregg Popovich, who just happened to be a mentor to Nuggets coach Michael Malone.
