Leading fight for fair elections

- Re: Michael Kirby Jr.,

Andrew Romanoff is right; our problem here in America is not one of mental health. It’s one of moral health. Families, God and morally

With the 2020 election cycle on the horizon, all I can think about is the protection of our voice, because nothing is more important than the power of the people; our right to vote.

Since 2016, the U.S. has made little progress in securing our elections and protecting them from foreign influence. In 2018, the U.S. Senate postponed the Secure Elections Act, which would have secured and maintained elections.

With all this going on, Colorado has been at the forefront of election security. It’s been said that Colorado has the best, most secure election system in the nation. Here at home, Colorado has implemented risk-limiting audits, which is one of the simplest and safest methods in ensuring a secure election. Additionally, in Colorado, there are nearly 4 million people who are registered to vote. That’s about 90% of all eligible people.

I urge our legislators in Colorado and in Congress to lead the fight for free, fair and secure elections. I urge our federal government to follow in the footsteps of Colorado. Without fair and secure elections, our voice hangs in the balance. Our freedom hangs in the balance.
