Why I publicly supported Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials»
Iread with amusement and disgust the histrionic opinion column by Ian Salverri of our Labor Day #Standwithice rally in Sunday’s Post. He’s the executive director of Colorado’s largest “progressive” advocacy group and husband of state Rep. Brittany Petterson.
Most of the amusement came from his referring to speakers at the event like Michelle Malkin (49-year old author, national commentator and mom of two) and Colorado GOP Vice-chairman Kristi Burton Brown (32-year old constitutional lawyer, activist, mom of two) as “washed-up, rightwing zealots.” The rest was using 20% of his space to quote scripture.
I’d love to explore The Sheep and The Goats or Judgment of the Nations with readers and Silverri. It is rich for the spokesman for an organization and ideology that promotes the right to kill unborn babies in the womb up to birth to preach to us about “the least among us.” Suffice it to say, his use of the parable to shame the attendees fell flat.
My disgust was multi-faceted. Silverri failed to mention that Michelle Malkin’s national #StandWITHICE tour is telling crime stories much of the media ignores such as the seven immigrants here
illegally who have been arrested on unrelated charges of sexual assault in her former home of Montgomery County, Maryland. These sanctuary policy-protected repeat offenders have, in the last month, been charged with, for example, two men were accused of raping an 11-year old, another man of raping a 16-year old at knifepoint, and raping a 15-year-old who was the accused assailants step-daughter. All of these crimes were 100% preventable had immigration laws been enforced.
Silverii failed to mention that our rally was in response to the July 12, 2019, assault on the Aurora facility where protestors tore down the Blue Lives Matter flag, tore down and attempted to burn the American flag, and raised the Mexican flag in their place. Lastly, he failed to describe actual, positive conditions in the facility or that we were there to share prayers, the Pledge of Allegiance, songs, and stand with fellow Americans whose jobs and performance never came under scrutiny during the term of the Deporter-in-chief, Barack Hussein Obama (look it up).
Thankfully, there was one thing upon which we agreed. Ballots are coming in 13 months. I can’t wait.
