-ranked Brooks Koepka withdrew from the PGA Tour’s CJ Cup before the third round Saturday after aggravatin­g a left knee injury a day earlier when he slipped on wet concrete.

Playing his second event since stem cell treatment on the knee Aug. 25, Koepka shot a 3-over 75 on Friday at Nine Bridges after opening with a 69. The defending champion was 13 strokes behind leader Justin Thomas in the limited-field event with no cut.

Henderson makes hole-in-one, leads LPGA Shanghai.

Brooke Henderson made a hole-inone on the second hole and shot a tournament-record 8-under 64 to take second-round lead Friday in the Buick LPGA Shanghai, the first of four straight events in Asia.

Henderson used an 8-iron on the 144-yard second at Qizhong Garden.

The 22-year-old Canadian, a twotime winner this season, followed the ace with a bogey, then birdied the next two. She had four birdies in a five-hole stretch around the turn and added another on the par-5 17th.

Devils sign Hischier to $50.75 million, 7-year extension.

No. 1 in the 2017 NHL draft, Nico Hischier will now be with the New Jersey Devils for a number of years to come.

The Devils on Friday signed Hischier to a $50.75 million, seven-year contract extension that counts $7.25 million against the salary cap through the 2026-27 season. Committing long term to Hischier is another important move for New Jersey, which is trying to become a perennial contender again.

Wyoming assistant coach suspended.

» Wyoming assistant coach Willie Mack Garza has been suspended indefinite­ly from the football team after being charged with driving under the influence, head coach Craig Bohl announced.

According to the Casper Star-Tribune, Garza was booked into the Albany County Detention Center on Thursday night on DUI alcohol and speeding charges. In a statement, UW said the athletic department would have no further comment.

Ricky Williams’ Heisman sells for auction-record $504,000.

The Heisman Trophy won by Ricky Wiliams in 1998 at Texas was sold for $504,000, setting a record for college football’s most recognizab­le award.

The winning bid exceeded the previous auction record for a Heisman set when Tim Brown’s 1987 trophy garnered $435,763 last December.

Williams’ Heisman is the last one awarded before trophy winners were required to sign an agreement forfeiting the right to sell it.

American Nathan Chen in first place after short program.

» It came as no surprise to see VEGAS two-time world champion Nathan Chen of the United States top the short program with 102.71 points Friday at Skate America, the first of six events in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series.

Forces top qualifying at Texas NHRA FallNation­als.

John Force topped Funny Car qualifying in the AAA Texas NHRA FallNation­als playoff event with the fastest speed of his career, and daughter Brittany Force led the Top Fuel racers. The 70-year-old John Force had a 3.834-second run at 337.33 mph to top the 337.16 he ran two years ago at Sonoma. Brittany Force broke the track time record with a 3.651-seconds at 331.28 mph.

NASCAR closes $2B purchase of Internatio­nal Speedway Corp.

NASCAR closed its $2 billion purchase of Internatio­nal Speedway Corp. on Friday, bringing under the sanctionin­g body’s control 12 tracks that include Daytona, Talladega and MiamiHomes­tead Speedway. The merger was announced in May and shareholde­rs voted to approve it on Wednesday.
