MAN WANTED IN SLAYING CAUGHT IN DENVER

Federal marshals in Denver have captured a man wanted in a deadly Memorial Day weekend shooting in Pittsburgh.

Authoritie­s took Jalaspian Charles into custody without incident on Monday.

Charles is charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and other counts stemming from a May 27 shooting in Pittsburgh’s Hill District that left a 34-year-old man dead and a 15-year-old injured.

Constructi­on worker suffers fatal injuries in hitand-run.

PUEBLO» A highway constructi­on worker who was struck by a hitand-run driver on Interstate 25 in Pueblo later died of his injuries.

The 31-year-old man was hit late on Oct. 16. Pueblo police announced the worker’s death on Friday. His name was not released. He worked for a company that contracted with the Colorado Department of Transporta­tion.

No arrests have been made. The suspect vehicle was described as a newer red or maroon Ford F-150, with black around the wheel wells. Police said the truck could have damage on the driver’s side.

First experiment installed at Wyoming CO2 research site.

WYO.» Researcher­s have installed the first experiment at a Wyoming power plant where they will study how to keep carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.

Dave Gribble with Wheat Ridge-based TDA Research says work at the coal-fired power plant near Gillette should prove that a method to capture the gas that contribute­s to global warming works at larger scales.

Previously, the firm tried its technique at the National Carbon Capture Center in Atlanta.

The Gillette NewsRecord reports TDA Research will now work with larger gas volumes at Basin Electric’s Dry Fork Station.

Wyoming officials have allocated $15 million toward the $21 million research facility. The $20 million NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE to capture and profitably use CO2 will occupy five other research bays starting in late 2019 or early 2020.

Man gets probation, work release for attempts to run over Longmont officer.

A man accused of driving his pickup truck through two fences and then attempting to run over a responding officer last Christmas has accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to work release and probation.

Michael Flores, 41, pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree assault on a peace officer and driving under the influence with two priors, according to court records.
