Empower Retirement, which owns the naming rights to the Broncos’ stadium through 2039, certainly didn’t make itself any Denver fans Sunday.

The nation’s second-largest retirement plan company drew the ire of Broncos Country on Twitter for cheering the Chiefs’ victory in the AFC title game, which secured the rival franchise’s first Super Bowl berth in 50 years.

“Get loud #ChiefsKingdom, it’s game day!” the company’s official account tweeted pregame. “We’re ready to cheer on our partner, the @Chiefs, as they battle the Titans in the AFC Championship to secure a spot in #SBLIV!”

Then, after Kansas City cruised past Tennessee 3524 at Arrowhead Stadium, @EmpowerToday followed with another tweet congratulating the team that has owned the Broncos in the division for the last four seasons. The Chiefs have won four straight AFC West titles in that time while beating Denver nine consecutive times.

“What a win!” the company said. “The @Chiefs are going to #SBLIV! #ProudPartner #ChiefsKingdom.”

That particular tweet had over 300 comments as of Monday morning, the majority of them from disgruntled Broncos fans who were upset with sponsored marketing that they see as a clear conflict of interest.

“I no longer support you as the stadium partner for Mile High Field,” wrote @a_aron77. “Empower Field at Mile High is no longer going to be said by any Broncos fan. We are solely Mile High Stadium. Please withdrawal your deal with the Broncos organization.”

In addition to being a partner with the Broncos, Empower Retirement has also been partners with the Chiefs and the Patriots since 2015.
