Young jazz musicians can audition for All-Stars

- By Ed Cannava YourHub Contributo­r Ed Cannava is director of bands at Regis University as well as the Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars.

The Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars annual auditions will be held March 8 and 15.

The group is looking for dedicated high school clarinet, tenor sax, trombone, banjo, guitar, piano, string bass and tuba players.

The audition music and recording are available at bandresour­cesunlimit­ed.com/ downloads.

Auditions will be 2:15-4:45 p.m. Sunday, March 8, and 6:30-9 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at Denver Percussion, 7399 S. Tucson Way, Suite B2, Centennial. Additional Sundays will be added as necessary.

Musicians should be playing jazz music at an intermedia­te to advanced level.

Profession­al jazz musicians lead clinics from time to time with the Denver Jazz Club Youth All-Stars.

Weekly rehearsals are held Sunday afternoons or evenings at Denver Percussion.

The band plays during monthly Denver Jazz Club sessions as well as at jazz festivals and other shows including the Evergreen, Denver Vintage and Sacramento, Calif., Hot Jazz Jubilee festivals.
