Rockies to host 14 prep games at Coors Field

- By Kyle Newman

High school baseball returns to Coors Field this spring, with 14 games at the stadium in April and May.

All of the games are free to the public. They begin April 10 with a doubleheader. Free parking will be available in Lot A (Park and Wazee) one hour before the game, and Gate D (20th and Blake) will open 30 minutes prior to the first scheduled game.

The Rockies’ high school baseball program began in 2001 and is based around a fundraiser component for each school. Teams buy discounted Rockies tickets and then sell them in their community to raise funds for the program, with each school keeping 100% of the profit.

In addition to the 14 regularseason CHSAA games, the annual Futures Game at Coors Field — featuring the state’s top seniors against the state’s top underclassmen — will be Monday, June 8.
