Celebrate 100 years of suffrage at Molly Brown House Museum
Margaret “Molly” Brown was a staunch supporter of women’s rights, and an active member of the National American Women’s Suffrage Association. For Brown, taking tea was a way to raise charitable funds, launch political campaigns, and support the women’s suffrage movement.
Gather at the Molly Brown House Museum for tea time, treats and inspiring conversation to learn more about these passionate women at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. March 8. “Margaret and Alva: Great Women Tea” re-enacts the famed Marble House Tea as part of the Conference of Great Women of 1914 attended by Margaret Brown and Alva Belmont, who worked side by side in the fight for women’s suffrage. Tickets cost $32 and include a tour of the museum; historicdenver.org/event/tea-timeat-the-museum/2020-02-22/
Historic Denver is mounting an exhibit along with a variety of companion events this year to recognize the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage and women’s voting rights. Learn more about Brown’s involvement on the national stage at the museum’s summer exhibit, “Fierce Foremothers, Steadfast Suffragists,” which opens May 7.
