Mo’Print celebrates art of fine printmaking
The Month of Printmaking (Mo’ Print) is a biennial celebration of the art of making original, fine art prints. It serves to promote exhibits, workshops, demonstrations and events that inspire, educate and promote awareness of this art form.
Programs are underway and will increase throughout March, the official month of celebration. There are 50 exhibitions to explore along the Front Range, including “528.0” at the Arvada Center.
This regional, juried printmaking exhibition includes artists who live within a 528-mile radius of Denver. “Imprint: Print Educators of Colorado” is an exhibition of the work of print educators from around the state. Next to open at this location is “Spirit Resonance: The Vitality of Printmaking,” which runs until April 5.
Mo’Print events include: Friday, March 6: Black Ink: A Mo’Print Fundraiser, TRVE Brewery, 7 p.m.-midnight.
Saturday, March 14: Open Portfolio Day at RedLine, 1-4 p.m.
Saturday, March 21: “Print Madness” demo day at the Arvada Center, noon-4 p.m.
March 28 and 29 – Studio + Print Tour, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Another popular event is steamroller printing: over-sized wooden blocks are inked and printed under the drum of a 2-ton steamroller. Artists can sign up to have their prints made, and the community is invited to observe, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, April 18, on the RMCAD campus, 1600 Pierce St., Lakewood.
A list of exhibitions, workshops and events can be found at moprint.org. Some workshops require registration and fees. Participants are encouraged to register early to ensure a spot.
