SCHOOL DISTRICT LETS STUDENTS BORROW CHROMEBOOKS

- — Loveland Reporter-Herald

The Thompson School District is allowing students who do not have access to technology at home to check out a Chromebook during the school district’s closure.

Each family can borrow one device for their students to use for learning during the extended closure due to the new coronavirus, according to an announcement from the school district. To qualify, the student must be registered at a Thompson school, have access to an internet connection and not have adequate access to computers at home for learning resources.

The station will be open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday at Mary Blair Elementary School until further notice. Parents or guardians must be with their students to check out the technology, which is limited to one per household.

The Chromebook will be sanitized and given to the family through a process that maintains distance and no personal contact: Communication will be completed through the intercom outside the school. The technician will place a sanitized Chromebook on a table and wipe down the intercom. After the technician re-enters the building, the family may take the device.

For families who do not have internet access, Comcast has offered two months free to qualifying families at internetessentials.com/ covid19.
