KANSAS CITY, MO.» The Kansas City Chiefs and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Chris Jones agreed to a four-year contract that could be worth up to

$85 million on Tuesday, the latest in a lavish spending spree by the Super Bowl champions as they continue to lock up their core pieces as training camp approaches.

The deal for Jones, which comes on the heels of a record-setting 10-year extension for quarterbac­k Patrick Mahomes, includes $60 million in guarantees, a person familiar with the terms told The Associated Press.

The two sides had been working on an extension since last year.

Browns, Garrett closing in on contract extension. CLEVELAND» The Cleveland Browns are closing in on a contract extension with star defensive end Myles Garrett, a person familiar with the negotiatio­ns told The Associated Press.

NFL Network reported the extension could be for five years and $125 million, which would make Garrett the league’s highest-paid defensive player. The Browns have been discussing the extension with Garrett and his representa­tives for months.

Terry gets 3-year, $4.35 million extension with Ducks.

ANAHEIM, CALIF.» Right wing Troy Terry has agreed to a three-year, $4.35 million contract extension through the 202223 season with the Anaheim Ducks.

The former University of Denver star has eight goals and 20 assists in 81 career games with the Ducks, who drafted him in the fifth round in 2015. He scored 15 points in 47 games before the current season was halted by the coronaviru­s pandemic.

Oliver committs to Buffaloes again. BOULDER» Trustin Oliver, who originally signed with Colorado in 2019 and spent last season at Iowa Western Community College, has committed to the Buffaloes again.

Oliver, a 6-foot-2 defensive back, grew up in Los Angeles, but moved to Colorado and graduated from Legend High School in Parker in 2019.

Oliver signed with CU in December of 2018, but did not qualify academical­ly. The Buffs’ staff set him up to attend Copiah-Lincoln (Miss.) Community College.

Oliver wound up enrolling at Iowa Western C.C. and spent last season as a redshirt.

1st female alleges sexual abuse by U of Michigan doctor.

NOVI, MICH.» The first female to publicly say she was sexually abused by a team doctor at the University of Michigan says she hopes to inspire other women and men to come forward.

Cathy Kalahar, who played tennis for the Wolverines in the 1970s, joins hundreds of Michigan graduates who allege that doctor Robert Anderson molested them. Anderson died in 2008.

Kalahar told The Associated Press that Anderson assaulted her during an exam when she was a freshman in 1973. She was a member of the school’s first women’s tennis team.

SEC postpones start of three fall sports. The Southeaste­rn Conference is postponing the start of volleyball, soccer and cross country competitio­n through at least the end of August because of COVID-19.

The league says that provides more time to prepare for a safe return to competitio­n on an adjusted timeline.

The league hasn’t made any announceme­nt on the football season. The Big Ten and Pac-12 have opted to only play conference games.

Ex-NBA superstar Shaq assists stranded Florida driver.

GAINESVILL­E, FLA.» A woman whose car was left stranded along a Florida interstate when her tire blew out got a little unexpected help from former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal, sheriff’s officials say.

O’Neal, who lives in the Orlando area, was traveling on Interstate 75 near Gainesvill­e when he saw the woman pull onto the side of the road, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office said on a Facebook post.

He stayed with the woman until deputies arrived at the scene.

In the video posted to Facebook, deputies thanked O’Neal for his assistance.
