Castellani is making his pitch for next season’s rotation in his final two starts of the 2020 season. It’s been an up- anddown season for the 24- yearold rookie right- hander. Since posting a win at Arizona on
Aug. 24, he is 0- 2 with a 7.85 ERA in five games ( four starts). He’s pitched well away from Coors Field, going 1- 0 with a 3.77 ERA in three starts, with opponents hitting just .191.
The Giants usually don’t announce their starters until the day of the game, but Webb is lined up to pitch. He’s coming off a difficult performance last Friday when Oakland hammered him for six runs on six hits in 3 1/ 3 innings. The righthander threw only 48 of 90 pitches for strikes and also hit a batter.
Trending: Colorado’s starting pitchers have been pulling their weight. Over their past 10 outings, entering Tuesday night’s game, Rockies starters had made six quality starts while posting a 3.47 ERA.
At issue: Utility player Garrett Hampson, perhaps hampered by inconsistent playing time, entered Tuesday’s game batting 3- for- 30 (. 100) since Sept. 7. — Patrick Saunders, Denver Post Pitching probables
