A driver ran into at least one least one person at a protest for Brionna Taylor on Wednesday night in Denver.

One protester who was hit by the vehicle was not hurt badly, and Denver police said they had one person detained after the incident, which happened at about 9: 15 p. m. The conflict began when the driver of the vehicle pulled into an area where a small group of protesters were rallying in front of the state Capitol.

The protesters surrounded the vehicle, and the driver stopped. The protesters shouted at the driver, who appeared to be a white man, to turn around, and the driver refused.

After a few tense minutes, during which the protesters banged on the vehicle with their fists, the driver accelerated into several protesters standing in front of his vehicle. One person who identified herself only by her first name, Kate, was pushed to the ground.

“I was kind of going up on the hood, and I was like, ‘ No, I’m not doing this,’ and I rolled over to the side,” she said moments after the incident. “He wasn’t gonna stop even, though I was, like, on his hood.” The incident came at the end of an otherwise peaceful night of protesting.
