Gonzalez will make his final start of the season and wants to make a strong impression as he looks toward 2021. The right- hander is coming off a loss at Los Angeles where the Dodgers reached him for three runs on four hits, including a solo home run, across five innings. Gonzalez is 0- 2 with a 5.54 ERA in three career starts vs. the Giants. In his only previous start at Oracle Park, he pitched five innings, giving up three runs on six hits in the Giants’ 4- 2 victory.

Trending: Left fielder Raimel Tapia had batted leadoff in 29 games this season ( entering Wednesday night’s game), batting .291 with three doubles, one triple, one home run, seven RBIs and a .344 on- base percentage.

At issue: Second baseman Ryan McMahon, now playing third base because Nolan Arenado is on the injured list, has a 36.5 strikeout percentage, which is the fifth- highest in the majors and the highest in the National League.
