Off- leash- dog area in Cherry Creek State Park to close temporarily.

- — Denver Post staff reports

The popular off- leash- dog area in Cherry Creek State Park will close for four days in early October for maintenance and improvements.

The area, which sees more than 1 million visits by people and their pets annually, will be closed Oct. 5 to 8, according to a news release. The same area was closed in October last year for upgrading. State park workers, contractors and volunteers will work on trails, improved access to the site and recovery of natural resources.

Improvements will include two new pedestrian access points from the parking lot to the off- leash area, with additional path connecting points to allow better access for visitors in wheelchairs and people pushing strollers.
