NEW YORK » Adam Gase thought through the final agonizing moments of the New York Jets’ stunning loss and tried to not make a rash decision.

The coach got some sleep before he headed to the team’s facility Monday morning — with the same conclusion he had Sunday night: defensive coordinato­r Gregg Williams had to go.

“I just felt like that was the best thing for our team moving forward,” Gase said during a conference call.

Williams was fired after he inexplicab­ly called for an all- out blitz against Las Vegas on Sunday with the Jets seconds away from their first victory. Derek Carr heaved a perfectly placed 46- yard touchdown pass to Henry Ruggs III with 5 seconds left to lift the Raiders to a 31- 28 win.

Sounders score twice late, stun Minnesota United 3- 2.

SEATTLE » Gustav Svensson scored off a corner kick in the final moments of secondhalf stoppage time, and the Seattle Sounders beat Minnesota United 3- 2 on Monday to advance to the MLS Cup final. Seattle scored three times in the final 15 minutes of regulation and stoppage time to stun Minnesota.

HOUSTON » James Harden hasn’t reported to Houston Rockets camp and coach Stephen Silas said Monday that he didn’t know when the All- Star guard would arrive. The Rockets had their second workout of training camp on Monday and afterward the new coach said there is “no timetable” for his disgruntle­d star, who reportedly wants to be traded, to arrive.

Curry wants to stay with Warriors.

SAN FRANCISCO » Stephen Curry wants to play until he’s 40, perhaps even beyond. And he wants it to be with the Golden State Warriors. Curry said discussion­s have begun with the team about a contract extension and he is “fully committed.” The twotime NBA MVP signed a $ 201 million, five- year contract in July 2017.

Angels acquire closer Iglesias from Reds in trade.

ANAHEIM, CALIF. » The Los Angeles Angels acquired closer Raisel Iglesias from Cincinnati for right- hander Noé Ramirez and a player to be named or cash Monday in the first trade of the week of baseball’s winter meetings. Iglesias has been the Reds’ closer the past four seasons, racking up 100 saves in 114 opportunit­ies with a career 3.15 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP.

Allen, fearsome hitter and 7- time All- Star, dies at 78.

Dick Allen, a fearsome hitter who was a seventime All- Star, the 1964 NL Rookie of the Year and the 1972 AL MVP, has died. He was 78. Allen’s No. 15 was retired by the Phillies in September, an honor that was considered long overdue by many for one of the franchise’s greatest players.

Cowboys All- Pro Zack Martin goes to IR, out at least 3 games.

FRISCO, TEXAS » The Dallas Cowboys placed offensive lineman Zack Martin on injured reserve with a calf injury Monday, sidelining the four- time All- Pro for at least three of the five remaining games.

NFL suspends Tart, Williams for stepping on opponents.

NEW YORK » The NFL on Monday suspended Titans defensive end Teair Tart and Bengals strong safety Shawn Williams for unnecessar­ily stepping on opponents last weekend. Both have until mid- week to appeal.

Toronto’s Pozuelo named 2020 MLS MVP. Toronto attacking midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo was named Major League Soccer’s 2020 Most Valuable Player. Pozuelo had nine goals and 10 assists during the regular season.

Adam Wainwright wins Clemente Award.
