PLANT STARTS NEW CHEMICAL WEAPONS DESTRUCTION
PUEBLO » The U. S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot on Friday started destroying 105mm projectiles stored there as part of its efforts to get rid of the nation’s stockpile of chemical weapons.
The effort is part of a multinational arms agreement known as the Chemical Weapons Convention to destroy the agents in Colorado and Kentucky, according to a news release.
This is the second campaign by the plant, this time to get rid of 105mm projectiles filled with mustard agent. Workers finished the destruction of about 300,000 155mm projectiles in September without incident, officials said.
The operations began in Colorado in March 2015 and are expected to continue into 2023.
One injured in fire being investigated as arson and attempted homicide.
JEFFERSON COUNTY » One man suffered injuries Friday night in a fire that authorities are investigating as an attempted homicide and arson in unincorporated Jefferson County, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office and fire crews responded to a report of a basement fire about 6: 30 p. m. in the 7100 block of South Depew Street.
The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment. Firefighters also rescued a dog and a cat according to South Metro Fire Rescue.
Christy Sinner, 38, has been arrested on counts of attempted first- degree murder, first- degree arson and child abuse, the sheriff’s office announced Saturday.

71- year- old pleads guilty to stealing $ 215,000. »
CLEAR CREEK COUNTY
A 71- year- old former employee of Clear Creek County has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $ 215,000 from the county’s resource center in Idaho Springs.
Candace Morehouse, of Georgetown, pleaded guilty to felony theft Monday, according to a Clear Creek County District Attorney’s Office news release.
She admitted to stealing $ 215,453 between 2010 and 2018, and using the money for personal gain, the release said. Morehouse will be sentenced Jan. 11, and she faces up to six years in prison.
