» The wintry blast causing DA LL A S misery across Texas has prompted the postponeme­nt of an NBA game in Dallas, a second consecutiv­e NHL game and disrupted the college basketball schedule.

The Dallas Mavericks and Detroit Pistons were supposed to play Wednesday night. NHL games scheduled for Monday and Tuesday between the Dallas Stars and Nashville Predators had already been scrapped.

More snow was in the forecast into Wednesday, although not accompanie­d by the single-digit temperatur­es that followed a weekend storm that left several inches of snow in many parts of Texas.

LIS» Longtime racing announcer Bob Jenkins said he plans to scale back his work at Indianapol­is Motor Speedway this May as he undergoes radiation and chemothera­py treatment for brain cancer.

The 73-year-old Jenkins made the announceme­nt Tuesday near the end of a 24-minute video posted on the speedway’s YouTube account.

C ITY, MO. injured and in a coma following a crash this month involving Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid is now awake, her family said in an online post.

The news was delivered Monday in a brief post on the GoFundMe page for Ariel Young, who has been hospitaliz­ed since the Feb. 4 crash.

Reid, who is the the son of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, was the team’s outside linebacker­s coach.

T-wolves: Russell to have knee surgery, miss 4-6 weeks.

MINNE A POLIS» Minnesota Timberwolv­es point guard D’Angelo Russell will undergo arthroscop­ic surgery on his left knee and be sidelined for four to six weeks, the team announced Tuesday.

Russell, who has missed the last three games due to soreness in his left leg, was diagnosed with a loose body in his knee. The procedure will take place Wednesday.

Knicks’ Robinson has surgery to repair broken right hand.

NEW YORK» New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson will be out until after next month’s All-Star break after having surgery Tuesday to repair a broken right hand.

Robinson was hurt last Friday in Washington when he banged his hand trying to block a shot.

McIlroy to become 1st internatio­nal player on PGA Tour board.

A N G ELES» Rory McIlroy was surprised to hear that no foreign-born player has ever served on the PGA Tour policy board.

“That’s going to change,” McIlroy said with a smile.

The change arrived Tuesday when McIlroy, from Northern Ireland, won a player election as chairman of the Player Advisory Council. McIlroy will move up to the board next year and begin a three-year term, replacing Jordan Spieth.

Pirates working on $2.5M, 1-year deal with Tyler Anderson.

PITTSB UR G H » The Pirates are closing in on a one-year deal with left-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson. The deal would be worth $2.5 million.

The 31-year-old Anderson went 4-3 with a 4.37 ERA last season while pitching for San Francisco. Anderson, who spent the first four years of his career with Colorado, is 22-27 with a 4.65 ERA in 82 starts and four relief appearance­s with the Rockies and the Giants.

Billy Conigliaro, Bosox 1st pick, Tony’s brother, dies at 73.

B OSTON» Billy Conigliaro, the first-ever Red Sox draft pick who started out in the Boston outfield with star-crossed brother Tony and later spent years taking care of him after a heart attack, died Wednesday. He was 73.

» Ilya Sorokin BUFFALO, N.Y. stopped 20 shots to earn his first NHL win, and the Islanders defeated the Sabres to complete a two-game sweep of Buffalo on Tuesday night.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau and captain Anders Lee scored in a 7:15 span in the first period, and the Islanders improved to 5-0-3 in their past eight — the team’s longest streak since a 15-0-2 franchise-record run in the opening two months of the 2019-20 season. Lee added an empty-net goal in the final second, and Pageau extended his scoring streak to four games, in which he has five goals.

The 25-year-old Sorokin improved to 1-2-1 in making his first start since a 25-save outing in a 4-3 overtime loss at Philadelph­ia on Jan. 31. Selected by New York in the third-round of the 2014 draft, he spent the previous eight seasons playing in his native Russia, where he won 25 or more games in each of his past four seasons and led the KHL with nine shutouts last year.
