Some of companies’ hiring expected to be for remote positions

A Colorado software company is expanding its operations and a company that designs and sells TVs and sound bars is opening an office in the state, which state officials said will create a total of at least 400 jobs.

Nextworld, a cloud-based enterprise software company, plans to expand its Greenwood Village headquarters, which will add more than 300 new jobs, the governor’s office and the Office of Economic Development and International Trade said in a statement Thursday.

“I’m thrilled that Nextworld will deepen its roots here in Colorado with an important expansion creating over 300 good jobs as we rapidly recover from this pandemic,” Gov. Jared Polis said.

Polis also announced Vizio, which produces smart televisions and sound systems, will open a tech innovation office in Denver, creating more than 100 jobs.

“The entrepreneurial spirit of Colorado’s tech talent is the perfect fit with Vizio’s culture of innovation, and these high-quality jobs are a huge win for Colorado,” Polis said.

California-based Vizio has more than 600 employees across six U.S. locations, including Dallas, Seattle and New York City. The company will start recruiting employees this month and is having a virtual job fair April 28.

“This move positions Vizio for growth in a market with a great pool of talent and Vizio’s adventurous spirit with a balanced work life culture,” said David Rudnick, senior vice president of engineering.

Nextworld, founded in Colorado in 2016, has outgrown its location in Greenwood Village and had considered relocating to Texas or Florida, neither of which has state income tax. The Colorado Economic Development Commission approved $2.55 million in job growth incentive tax credits and $295,000 in location neutral employment incentives.

Nextworld expects that a portion of the new jobs will be remote positions. Over eight years, the company anticipates it could employ as many as 120 remote workers in counties that are eligible for the state incentives.

The new positions will include software engineering, product management, development of applications and administration. The company projects the average annual wage will be $148,960.

“Nextworld was founded in Colorado, has grown with Colorado and, with this new commitment, we are poised to play a major role in Colorado’s future,” CEO Kylee McVaney said.
