Gray has proven dominant at Coors Field this season at 4-0 with a 2.08 ERA. The righthander has lasted at least six innings in each of his last four starts. In his last outing, Gray fanned a season-high eight batters and held the Giants to two runs over six innings. Gomber will make his eighth start of the year after mostly struggling since joining the Rockies. Friday’s loss in St.
Louis marked his first start this season without issuing a walk, but Gomber also gave up two home runs. The southpaw has recorded 34 strikeouts so far this year.
Trending: Outfielder Charlie Blackmon has a history of feasting on the Padres. Entering Tuesday night, he led all active MLB players with a .315 batting average (minimum 300 at-bats) and 29 home runs in games against San Diego.
At issue: Prior to Tuesday’s matchup, Colorado had lost five consecutive games to the Padres dating back to 2020. The Rockies were outscored 39-10 over that span.
