Gray, who’s slated to become a free agent at the end of the season, could be making his final start at Coors Field in a Rockies uniform. Although both Gray and the Rockies have said they are open to working out a new contract, there have been no significan­t negotiatio­ns.

Gray is making his 28th start of the season and his 14th at Coors, where he is 5-4 with a 3.79 ERA vs. 3-7 with a 4.59 ERA on the road. Saturday will mark his fourth start of the season against the Giants. He’s gone 1-1 with a 4.70 ERA against them. In 15 career starts vs. the Giants, Gray is 2-7 with a 5.85 ERA. Desclafani is coming off an excellent start Tuesday against the Padres. He pitched 6 M innings of one-run ball, allowing just three hits and one walk while whiffing three. He’s given up three or fewer runs in each of his last six starts. The righty has dominated Colorado this season, going 3-0 with a 1.85 ERA and 1.068 WHIP over four starts. In seven career appearance­s vs. Colorado, he’s 4-1 with a 2.83 ERA.

Trending: First baseman C.J. Cron entered Friday night with multi-hit games in four of his last five games at Coors Field. Since Aug. 3, he’s reached base in 20 of 21 games at Coors.

At issue: The Rockies entered the weekend series with a 4-12 record against the Giants this season, with the Giants having outscored the Rockies 105-54. The last time the Rockies lost more than 12 games to San Francisco was in 2012 when they went 4-14.
