CLASS 5A

1. Valor Christian (5-0) won vs. No. 3 Columbine, 35-21. Running back Gavin Sawchuk scored four times, including on a 27-yard pass from Colton Allen to go ahead 28-14 midway through the third quarter, and brother Gabe Sawchuk had a TD run of his own. Next week: vs. Mountain Vista, 7 p.m. Oct. 1

2. Cherry Creek (4-1) won at No. 5 Regis Jesuit, 34-14. QB Christian Hammond threw an 80-yard touchdown pass early in the third quarter to take a 24-0 lead, Keegan Holles had a pair of rushing TDS and the Bruins won their 26th straight against Colorado competitio­n. Next week: at No. 8 Cherokee Trail, 7 p.m. Oct. 1

3. Columbine (4-1) lost at No. 1 Valor Christian, 35-21. Quarterbac­k Brock Zanetell threw for a touchdown and ran for another, and Seth Cromwell’s two-yard plunge pulled the Rebels with a score at 28-21 late in the third quarter, but that was as close as they would get. Next week: at Arvada West, 7 p.m.

4. Ralston Valley (4-0) at Doherty, 11 a.m. Saturday. Next week: at Mullen, 7 p.m. Oct. 1

5. Regis Jesuit (3-2) lost vs. No. 2 Cherry Creek, 34-14. Zavier Carroll had a pair of rushing TDS, but it was too little, too late as the Raiders lost to a top-two team in 5A for the second time this season. Next week: vs. Chaparral, 7 p.m. Oct. 1

6. Grandview (4-1) won vs. Horizon, 42-8. The Wolves rebounded from their first loss of the season by scoring 42 straight points to start the game and cruising from there. Next week: vs. Smoky Hill, 7 p.m. Sept. 30

7. Legend (4-1) won at Westminste­r, 42-8. The Titans scored 42 straight points in the first half, and the defense came within a fourth-quarter touchdown of their second shutout of the season. As it is, opponents have scored a touchdown or less in all four Titans wins. Next week: vs. 4A No. 2 Pine Creek, 7 p.m. Oct. 1

8. Cherokee Trail (3-1) at Denver East, 11 a.m. Saturday. Next week: vs. No. 2 Cherry Creek, 7 p.m. Oct. 1

9. Douglas County (5-0) won vs. Boulder, 34-7. The Huskies defense returned a fumble for a touchdown, Reed Mcconnell and A.J. Jackson each had intercepti­ons, and Douglas County won its fifth in a row for the first time since 2008. Next week: vs. Doherty, 1 p.m. Oct. 2

10. Arapahoe (4-1) won at Rock Canyon, 41-35. The Warriors won a wild back-and-forth affair in their first game since entering the state rankings. Next week: vs. Eaglecrest, 7 p.m. Sept. 30

CLASS 4A

1. Palmer Ridge (5-0) won at Lakewood, 35-7. After going down 7-0 late in the first quarter, the Bears rattled off 35 unanswered points over the next three quarters to claim the program’s first win over a 5A team. Next week: vs. No. 5 Montrose, 6 p.m. Oct. 1

2. Pine Creek (5-0) won vs. No. 4 Chatfield, 28-22. Quarterbac­k Josiah Roy ran in a 15-yard TD and threw for two scores, the second to Alex Nelson for a 14-point lead early in the fourth quarter. Kael Reeves-dunbar preserved the lead late with a fumble recovery inside Pine Creek’s 20. Next week: at 5A No. 7 Legend, 7 p.m. Oct. 1

3. Dakota Ridge (5-0) won at Brighton, 54-13. Dante Capolungo had a kickoff return touchdown and an intercepti­on to help the Eagles pass the 40-point threshold for the fourth straight game. Next week: vs. Bear Creek, 7 p.m. Oct. 1

4. Chatfield (4-1) lost at No. 2 Pine Creek, 28-22. A tie game at halftime turned on two straight touchdowns from Pine Creek, and a fumble on a potential go-ahead drive late in the fourth quarter sealed it. Next week: vs. Wheat Ridge, 6 p.m. Sept. 30

5. Montrose (5-0) won vs. Grand Junction, 54-6. Ethan Hartman set the tone with a pair of rushing touchdowns less than midway through the first quarter as the Indians raced ahead 420 by halftime and cruised from there. Next week: at No. 1 Palmer Ridge, 6 p.m. Oct. 1

6. Loveland (4-1) won at Broomfield, 35-12. Tyson Williams and Garrett Harstad ran in touchdowns to give the Red Wolves a 140 halftime lead that the Eagles were never able to overcome. Next week: vs. Monarch, 6:30 p.m. Sept. 30

7. Erie (5-0) won at Skyline, 49-0. The Tigers scored touchdowns on six consecutiv­e possession­s to open the game, clinching their fifth straight double-digit victory to begin the season. Next week: vs. Silver Creek, 7 p.m. Oct. 1

8. Golden (4-0) at Widefield, late Friday. Next week: vs. Standley Lake, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1

9. Fountain-fort Carson (4-1) won vs. Highlands Ranch, 44-21. The Trojans eclipsed 40 points for the second straight week — both wins over 5A opponents. Next week: at Mesa Ridge, 7 p.m. Oct. 1

10. Ponderosa (4-1) won vs. Vista Peak Prep, 21-0. Andrew Heidel had one touchdown running and another throwing, and the Mustangs defense shut out an opponent for the first time this season. Next week: at Air Academy, 7 p.m. Sept. 30
