Do Broncos need a new owner to move forward?

- Readers talk and columnist Mark Kiszla responds Mark Kiszla: mkiszla@denverpost.com or @markkiszla

Keeping the seat warm. We should all just surrender with the Broncos and watch hockey this fall. (Oh wait, we can’t. But that’s another topic.) There will be no major changes with the Broncos until there’s a new owner. The new owner will want a new coach and staff, and the trust (led by president Joe Ellis) doesn’t want to saddle the franchise with two sets of coaching buyouts instead of one. Vic Fangio and company are the night crew keeping things warm until new ownership shows up.

Doug, Castle Rock

Kiz: I have been assured that if Ellis, John Elway and general manager George Paton decide a coaching change needs to be made, Fangio will be let go and replaced before the sale of the franchise is complete. That makes sense for one solid reason.

The Broncos would be foolish to wait until a buyer is approved by the league, while prime coaching candidates are hired by rival NFL teams early in 2022.

Won’t pay to watch. I sold my Broncos season tickets for the entire year. Until I see big changes, from the top all the way down, I’m not paying to watch mediocrity. Let’s start with a new owner, general manager and coach. We stink right now.

Kiz: When he’s done playing, Russell Wilson wants to own a team. But for now, if Danger Russ embraced being traded to Denver, he could own the town.

Follow the Green & Gold. After reading your column about empty seats at Broncos games, I had a crazy thought: How about selling the team to fans and issuing stock the way the Green Bay Packers do? Since Amazon mogul Jeff Bezos isn’t interested in buying the Broncos and Peyton Manning can’t find $3 billion in his sport coat pocket, maybe it would work.

Joanne, forever young

Kiz: If we pass the hat here at Kickin’ It Headquarters and buy $500 worth of stock in a $3 billion team, does that give us enough voting share to determine which player the Broncos take in the first round of the NFL draft?

Fans not true blue. Denver fans are funny. The Broncos beat Dallas and you are going to the playoffs. The Broncos lose to Philadelphia and you think the quarterback is a bum. Your defense is suspect at times, your offensive play-calling is boring, and yet the blame is on quarterback Teddy Bridgewater for not making a tackle after a fumble. Fickle fans.

Joseph, impartial observer

Kiz: The Broncos made a business decision to trade linebacker Von Miller. Bridgewater made a business decision not to tackle Philadelphia cornerback Darius Slay. Football can be a business so tough it breaks your heart.

Got a menu? You’re out to lunch, Kiz.

Max, Littleton Kiz: As a young child, I realized my two best subjects in school were recess and lunch. Never athletic enough to earn a living from any sport played at recess, I found a way to eat hot dogs and watch football for fun and profit.

Define columnist? And today’s parting shot insists the best way to ruin a sports column is for it to include opinion.

I can never take you seriously as a member of the media. Your views cloud actual reporting. Stop, just stop.
