Rockies 8, Padres 4
Monday at Peoria Sports Complex
On the mound: Left-hander Ryan Rolison, Colorado’s top pitching prospect, made his first Cactus League start and was not sharp, giving up four runs (just one earned) on three hits in one inning. … Six relievers combined to blank the Padres for the next eight innings, giving up just three combined hits.
At the plate: Shortstop prospect Ezequiel Tovar, whom the Rockies are very excited about, hit a two-run homer to left field in a four-run sixth inning. … A four-run eighth was powered by RBI singles from Warming Brenable and Brenton Doyle, with Bret Boswell clubbing a two-run triple.
Worth noting: Third-base prospect Aaron Schunk made a terrific over-theshoulder catch in shallow left field in the eighth inning.
