First lady Jill Biden to give two speeches in Denver
First lady Jill Biden is scheduled to arrive in Colorado on Friday, where she will be welcomed by first gentleman Marlon Reis at Denver International Airport, before making a pair of speaking engagements on Saturday.
Gov. Jared Polis, Reis and others plan to showcase the Polis administration’s commitment to building a Colorado for All, “including saving Colorado students, businesses and families money, and bridging the digital divide to strengthen Colorado’s workforce,” according to a governor’s office news release.
“We are proud to welcome the first lady to beautiful Colorado and share how our state is the best place in the country to live, work, and thrive,” Reis said. “We look forward to showing Dr. Biden the spirit of Coloradans, including our commitment to saving people money, ensuring small businesses can thrive, preserving and protecting our environment and building a Colorado for all.”
In January President Joe Biden and his wife visited Colorado in the aftermath of the Marshall fire, when they toured the devastated burn area and met with fire victims, emergency responders and victims supporters.
On Saturday, Lt. Gov. Dianne Primavera will join Jill Biden at the White House Initiative Latino Economic Summit at the Community College of Denver, where Biden is scheduled to deliver the opening remarks. Discussion will include Colorado’s steps to increase access to broadband internet access across the state, bringing real relief to Colorado students and workers and saving people money on highspeed internet services, the release said.
