Suspect investigated in woman’s death. Man arrested in wife’s death.
A suspect is being investigated for first-degree murder following a woman’s death in downtown Denver.
About 8:15 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to the area of East 16th Avenue and Broadway on a report of person who was unconscious in a stairwell, according to a police news release. A woman was found dead at the scene.
On Tuesday, police arrested Innis Lee Collins, 38, as a suspect in the case.
“It is believed that Collins and the victim were in a current or previous relationship,” police said.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.

A man, a woman and a young boy were found dead in an apartment Tuesday after being shot multiple times, police said.
Investigators don’t suspect the shooting was a murder-suicide and are trying to learn more about the circumstances of the shooting and those responsible for it, police spokesman Doug Schepman said Wednesday.
The names of the victims have not been released.

A man suspected of fatally strangling his wife inside a Lakewood residence has been arrested on investigation of firstdegree murder.
Mario Alonso MontoyaRodriguez, 37, is being held at the Jefferson County jail, police said in a news release.
About 7:15 a.m. Monday, police were called to a condominium complex, in the 5700 block of West Atlantic Place, on a welfare check. When agents arrived, they found a woman dead inside a home.
The victim is identified as 34-year-old Jasmine Lazaro. The suspect and victim were married, police said.
