Looking Ahead

-

Game 1: Mets RHP Carlos Carrasco (3-1, 3.73 ERA) at Rockies RHP German Marquez (1-3, 6.16), 1:10 p.m. Saturday, Coors Field.

Game 2: Mets TBA at Rockies LHP Austin Gomber (2-3, 4.38), 6:40 p.m. TV: ATTRM

Radio: 850 AM/94.1 FM Marquez’s last start yielded a 10-4 win over the Royals and marked one of his most encouraging outings of the season. He allowed just three hits and three earned runs in six innings. The outing before that, Marquez didn’t enjoy any run support, but that’s back-to-back showings of only three earned runs per start. Perhaps he’s turned a corner. Carrasco’s had an inconsistent start to his season. In his last outing vs. Seattle, he got knocked around for eight hits in 4L innings. In his prior two starts, he’d conceded only two earned runs in more than 14 innings. Carrasco’s away ERA (6.19) is nearly triple his number at home (2.16).

The Rockies have lost Gomber’s last two outings, in part, because the lefty’s yielded eight earned runs across 11L innings. He hasn’t helped himself with five walks to just six strikeouts in that span. His last win came two weeks ago in a 5-2 victory over the Nationals. In three starts at home this season, opponents are hitting .311 off him.

Trending: Charlie Blackmon’s leadoff homer in Wednesday’s win over San Francisco was the 37th leadoff homer of his career, the most in franchise history. It’s also the third-most in NL history.

At issue: The Rockies have allowed at least seven runs in seven of their last 10 games. They’ve gone 2- 8 in that span.

Pitching probables
