Chef Jeff Osaka opening fifth Sushi-rama location in Broomfield
His original conveyor-belt restaurant opened in Rino in 2015
Sushi-rama has added another notch to its conveyer belt.
The local sushi concept from Denver restaurateur Chef Jeff Osaka is opening a fifth location at 8181 Arista Place in a mixed-use development in Broomfield, on Dec. 7. Sushi-rama originally opened in Rino in 2015 and has three other locations: DTC, Aurora and Lone Tree.
“After the success of our Rino location, we had a lot of calls from developers around the area, and the Arista developers reached out in 2017 to see if I wanted to open up there,” Osaka said. “We signed a lease in 2019 and were supposed to begin construction, but COVID put a pause on it, and we weren’t able to start until earlier this year. It’s taken three times as long as it should have.”
Sushi-rama’s conveyorbelt system delivers fresh sushi directly to the customers’ tables. The new location is 2,209 square feet with floor-to- ceiling windows and a colorful, retro design from Denver-based Livstudio. Osaka said the overall buildout cost around $850,000.
“We’ve got pretty much all the directions covered: north, south and east,” Osaka said. “Now, we just need to head west.”
The conveyor belt will stretch close to 200 feet, and sushi plates will range from $2 to $4 with classics like the California roll and spicy tuna roll and specialties such as The Mean Green (with soft shell crab tempura) and the Bangkok Nights (topped with seared New York strip).
The Broomfield location also will offer items from Osaka Ramen, including favorites like okonomiyaki fries, bacon fried rice, ramen bowls and chicken kara’age.
Sparkling sake, wine, beer and Japanese twists on classic drinks (like a Green Tea Mule) will be available. The location also will host a happy hour, Monday through Friday from 3 to 5 p.m.
