A home in Morrison designed by the same architect behind John Denver’s Starwood home in Aspen is available for the first time since it was built in 1975 for an asking price of $ 2.85 million.

The listing at 7558 S. Turkey Creek Road includes a 7,062- square- foot home with five bedrooms, four full bathrooms and one half- bathroom. It also includes five parcels covering over 75 acres in the foothills near U. S. 285, about 30 minutes from downtown Denver.

“To find that unique buyer we have to cast a wide net. It is a cool opportunity,” said Matt Bachus, co- owner of the Tupper’s Team at Madison & Company Properties in Evergreen, which has the listing.

The property is vintage mid1970s design with lots of interior oak finishes, skylights, carpeted bathrooms and a fireplace built with stones from the property. While acquiring a “time capsule” might appeal to some buyers, remodeling costs will probably be part of the financial equation for most.

The architectural firm Hagman Yaw designed John Denver’s home, among the first built in the high- end Starwood subdivision of Aspen. The firm also designed the Aspen home of Jill St. John, an actress popular in the 1970s, and crafted renovations to the Little Nell and Hotel Jerome in Aspen.

Of the five parcels, one contains the Morrison home and one has a vintage cabin from the early 1930s occupied by the property’s caretaker, a workshop and garages that can hold eight cars. The largest parcel, at 40 acres, has a well and the other two parcels run about 10 acres each.

An investment- minded buyer could potentially develop up to four homes on the land, Bachus said.

“To build a custom home with a snow- capped Continental Divide view that close to Denver is in itself impressive,” Bachus said.

Zillow estimates the value of the home and land at $ 2.63 million and shows the listing has been active for 185 days with 2,810 views. Zillow began promoting the property on its social media account called Zillow Gone Wild, generating 1.1 million views on X, formerly Twitter.

ecause so much vacant land is included in the listing value, a buyer may find it difficult to obtain a traditional jumbo loan. Anyone requesting a showing must schedule an appointment in advance and have proof of financial qualifications.
