Vail’s “My Epic” app to get boost from AI next season

Vail Resorts will launch a new function in its My Epic app next season using advanced artificial intelligen­ce to answer questions visitors have about ski conditions, dining options and other aspects of mountain operations.

Called “My Epic Assistant,” the service will be available for the 2024-25 ski season at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenrid­ge and Keystone with plans to expand it to other resorts in future seasons.

“For more than a decade, we have been committed to improving the guest experience through the use of innovative technology,” said Chris Smith, chief informatio­n officer at Vail Resorts, in a news release. “With the recent advancemen­ts in AI, we see an opportunit­y to provide realtime guest service so skiers and riders can navigate their day at our mountain resorts with confidence, efficiency and ease.”

Previous technologi­cal improvemen­ts to the Epic Pass included the ability to download season passes and lift tickets to cellphones.

“My Epic Assistant will offer skiers and riders an easy-to-use place to ask questions, feel confident in the responses they receive, and then make the most out of their experience skiing and riding,” according to Monday’s news release.

“In future years, Vail Resorts plans to significan­tly expand the My Epic Assistant technology to provide proactive, personaliz­ed recommenda­tions and reminders based on an individual’s unique itinerary and preference­s, as well as offer always-on booking and itinerary support.”
