The Coachella Valley is home to a number of events and activities to take part in during the hot summer months. In anticipati­on for these events, we’ve put together a list of things happening this week.

Comedy Night with Whitney Cummings

The Agua Caliente Casino Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage is hosting a comedy night with comedian, actor, writer, and producer Whitney Cummings this Saturday. Appearing in numerous television shows, films, and her own podcast, Cummings has solidified herself in the stand-up world through her various comedy specials. Reserve your tickets and laugh the night away in this comedic experience.

When: 8 p.m. Saturday Aug. 26

Christian Nodal Concert

Known as the creator of “mariacheño,” which unites the musical genres of norteño and mariachi, Grammy Awardwinne­r Christian Nodal is set to perform at Acrisure Arena this Saturday. With hit songs like “Ya No Somos Ni Seremos” and “Cazzualida­des” from his most recent body of work, Nodal continues captivatin­g Latin music audiences. Quickly becoming one of the most successful stars in the world of regional Mexican music, Nodal is stepping foot in the Coachella Valley as part of his U.S. Foraji2 tour.

‘Of Mice and Men’ Film Screening

Back for the summer is University of California-Riverside Palm Desert’s book-to-film series, Lit Flicks. This Saturday, the Palm Springs Cultural Center is screening the film adaptation of the young adult book “Of Mice and Men” to further recognize books that have been banned or challenged. A brief discussion about the adaptation will follow the screening of the 1992 film. This American classic follows two men as they drift through California during the Great Depression, looking for work and the subsequent dilemma that emerges once they secure jobs working on a ranch. Take advantage of this free cinematic experience.

The Rayford Brothers Concert

The Rayford Brothers are set to play live at the Agua Caliente Casino in Palm Springs this Wednesday as part of the casino’s Desert Blues Revival series. With their signature blend of ’50s rock, ’60s surf rock, and soul, this band will surely transport you to a bygone era through their captivatin­g and timeless melodies. With a multitude of stage front and bar-side seating options, in addition to the dance floor itself, attendees are sure to be treated to a night of nostalgia rooted in the golden eras of rock and soul.

Cocktails & Culinary Workshop

Palm Desert’s largest resort, the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa, is continuing its culinary workshop series this Friday at the hotel’s T&T Innovation Kitchen. Locals and guests alike are invited to participat­e in this event, which will be themed after contempora­ry cuisine and feature many chefs and mixologist­s from the hotel. During this 45-minute event, individual­s will receive recipe cards and are included in giveaways. Reservatio­ns are required at the two time slots available, 4:30 or 5:30 p.m.

Sunsets at the Street Fair

The College of the Desert is continuing with its Sunsets at the Street Fair event this Saturday. Locals and visitors are invited to spend their afternoon at this open-air shaded shopping experience. The fair provides shoppers of any age and budget access to artisanal items, home goods, fashion, furniture, vintage cars, a farmers market, live entertainm­ent, gourmet food and much more.

Radio Ready Concert

Comprised of various talented musicians from the Los Angeles, Palm Springs and Orange County areas, the dance band Radio Ready is scheduled to perform this Friday at the Cascade Lounge in the Aqua Caliente Casino in Palm Springs. Dance the night away at this free concert featuring a wide array of musical genres, from 1940s jazz to some of today’s greatest hits.

Broadway to the Big Screen: ‘The Producers’

This week as part of the Broadway to the Big Screen summer collection, the Palm Springs Cultural Center will feature the musical comedy “The Producers.” Initially released in 1967, the 2005 version of “The Producers” follows the wild antics of cynical Broadway producer and old ladies’ lothario Max Bialystock and accountant/aspiring producer Leo Bloom as they conjure up a plan to garner profits from their show at the expense of the show’s broader success. Director Roger De Bris must step in to stop their plan from developing further.

When: 4-6 p.m. Saturday Aug. 26

Palm Springs Certified Farmers’ Market

The City of Palm Springs is having its recurring indoor farmers market at the Palm Springs Pavilion every Saturday until September. Browse the selection of local produce, herbs, honey, nuts, cheese, cut flowers, plants and fresh-baked bread while enjoying live music at this week’s Palm Springs Certified Farmers’ Market.

Caliente Comedy Night with Steven Briggs

Tickets for this Friday’s comedy night at the Agua Caliente Casino in Palm Springs, headlined by LAbased comedian, writer, and actor Steven Briggs, are on sale. Headlining the 90-minute event is Briggs, having just returned from his fifth tour performing for American troops in the Middle East. Prepare for a Friday full of laughs at this Caliente Comedy Night session. Must be 21 or older.
