Robert “Bob” Cory Leidner

LA QUINTA

-

- Robert “Bob” Cory Leidner, 72, went to Heaven after a long battle with prostate cancer on December 1, 2023, in La Quinta, CA. Born on February 12, 1951, at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Hollywood, CA. Bob was a beloved husband, father, friend, volunteer and all-around great guy.

Integrity was Bob’s middle name; he was intelligent, generous, fair, honest and always did the right thing. If you were fortunate enough to know him, your life was all the better for it. He had a passion for life and a zest for adventure. Whether it was visiting new places around the world with Sue Marie or engaging in his favorite hobbies - golfing, politics, fast cars, TCM or football - Bob always approached everything with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.

After attending Sunny Brae Elementary and later Canoga High, Bob worked fulltime while studying for and receiving his degree in Business and Marketing from CSUN, later attending UCLA for extension courses in Economics.

Bob’s main profession was as a Business Executive. While he spent time in the management and expansion of the restaurant industry, his primary focus was on lighting distribution, working first as General Manager, then President/CFO of Regency Lighting. After retiring from the corporate world, he and Sue Marie moved to the Coachella Valley, where he opened his own lighting distribution company, Plussales.net, under Best Practices Network, Inc. In 2013 he opened a travel agency, The Vacation Authority, a franchise of Dream Vacations.

As a volunteer, Bob was on the Boards of many corporations, including CVSPIN and CV Volunteers in Medicine. He was a member of Rotary and Chairman of many La Quinta Commissions. Bob won the Inspirational Senior Award for Riverside County. Volunteering was not an option, it was a special honor.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife Sue Marie of 30-plus years and his daughter Adrienne; and predeceased by his parents, Nat and Edith Leidner; his sister, Dr. Deborah Leidner and his brother, Michael Leidner.

A Celebration of Life will be held to honor and celebrate his remarkable life on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 11am at Shadow Rock Church, 46760 Commerce Court, La Quinta, CA 92253; lunch to follow. Everyone is encouraged to wear bright colors - not black. After all, this is a Celebration of his festive, colorful life!

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a favorite charity of Bob’s; either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Best Friends Animal Society or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Expressions of sympathy and fond memories of Bob can be shared on our online tribute page at www.desertsun.com/obituaries. We appreciate your support and love during this difficult time.
