Merkle Wildlife Sanc­tu­ary and Vis­i­tor’s Cen­ter will hold Star Party 8:30-9:30 p.m. June 11 at the sanc­tu­ary, 11704 Fenno Road, Up­per Marl­boro. Join the As­tron­omy Club of South­ern Mary­land as they ob­serve the night sky. Tele­scopes of var­i­ous sorts will be pro­vided or you can bring your own. Dress for weather. Bring lawn chair. Take a fam­ily-ori­ented bicycle out­ing on the North Tract. Dis­cover lo­cal wildlife, plants and his­tor­i­cal sites. Learn the im­por­tance of re­duc­ing your foot­print and leav­ing no trace on this 5-mile guided bicycle ride. Bring own bike (wide tire hy­brid and moun­tain bikes only — nar­row tire road bikes are not suitable for sev­eral of the trails), wa­ter bot­tle and hel­met. Weather de­pen­dent. Ages 10 and older.
