The Prince George’s County Police Department is continuing to investigate the fatal shooting of an adult male who was found in the roadway last Wednesday off of Old Branch Avenue in Clinton.

On Aug. 10 around 12:30 p.m., police responded to the area of Butterfield Drive and Chris Mar Avenue in District 5 after someone called to report a shooting.

“Once the officers arrived on scene, they found an adult male outside suffering from multi-

ple gunshot wounds,” said Cpl. Harry Bond in a phone interview last Wednesday.

The victim, according to the department’s blog, is 24-year-old Reginald Lewis of Oak Leaf Court in Clinton. Lewis was pronounced dead on the scene.

“Right now, our homicide detectives and our evidence technicians are going over evidence,” Bond said. “Our detectives are going door to door, canvassing the area to determine exactly what happened and why.”

In terms of witnesses, Bond said that is an ongoing part of the investigation. The department is asking the community to come forward with any information, he said.

“It’s definitely an adequate amount of officers canvassing the area in attempt to make an apprehension,” he said. “That’s something that’s ongoing as we speak.”

After nearly a week following Lewis’s death, Cpl. Lamar Robinson — who is also a spokesman for the police department — said the homicide is still under investigation as detectives are working to identify a motive and suspects.

“All the updates are already posted on our blog,” Robinson said.

The department is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide unit at 301-7724925. Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-8477.
