Hear­ing seeks pub­lic in­put on school build­ing im­prove­ments

En­cour­ag­ing stu­dents, fam­i­lies and com­mu­nity mem­bers to share pri­or­i­ties for school im­prove­ments, ren­o­va­tions and new con­struc­tion, the Prince Ge­orge’s County Board of Ed­u­ca­tion held a Cap­i­tal Im­prove­ment Pro­gram (CIP) pub­lic hear­ing Sept. 15 at the Sass­cer Ad­min­is­tra­tion Build­ing in Up­per Marl­boro.

About 13 res­i­dents, in­clud­ing County Coun­cil­woman Deni Tav­eras (D), tes­ti­fied be­fore the board about what they would like to see in­cluded in the pro­posed 20182023 CIP bud­get for the Prince Ge­orge’s County Pub­lic Schools sys­tem.

“Data anal­y­sis is the ba­sis for ef­fec­tive pol­icy mak­ing and it is how we get the best so­lu­tions,” Tav­eras said as she be­gan her three-minute plea. “The Mas­ter Plan Sup­port Project and the [fis­cal year] FY 17 Ed­u­ca­tional Fa­cil­i­ties Mas­ter Plan
