Strawberry festival returns to Chaptico church this Sunday
Historic Christ Church in Chaptico will be holding its
on Sunday, May 20, from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at the parish hall, located at 37497 Zach Fowler Road off Route 234. They will have strawberry shortcake with the “the works,” ice cream, strawberry pies and desserts and barbecue. Visit with quality artists and crafters. There will be live music by The Bushmill Band and Folk Salad.

The area was deeply saddened recently to learn of the loss of a truly fine lady and St. Mary’s resident,
who died at her home in Valley Lee. She was born Aug. 12, 1952, to Lily Sexton and the late Eugene Sexton. I have known Barbara for more

than 30 years and she was always such a wonderful, caring lady. Every time I saw her she was more concerned about how I was then she was about her own health. She always put others first. My deepest sympathy is extended to her mother; her brother, Robert; her sisters, Margie, Mary, Margaret, Louise and Rita; and her other family members and many friends. Barbara was laid to rest in Charles Memorial Gardens, next to her father. Rest in peace, Barbara.

The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the games will start at 7:30 p.m. The entrance fee is $10 per person, and includes a sandwich, chips, soda, coffee, tea and dessert. Help the Lions to serve those less fortunate in our community. Additional food will be available for sale, and they will also have door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. This is being sponsored by the 7th District Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, and $2 from each dinner will go to the fire department. Carryouts will be available.
