Priest gets poor grade for his letter of apology
The Rev. Michael Briese of St. Mary’s Church gets a C- for his apology letter in The Enterprise, after the paper reported June 29 about his angrily dispersing the congregation before a funeral Mass after a visitor knocked over a chalice.
The “sacred chalice” that was damaged is a cup. What it contains during the Mass is sacred. The reverend was more concerned about an object than this poor grieving family.
His apology was two-thirds explaining how fabulous he has been for the past 25 years. Go back to the drawing board, Father Briese. Make the next attempt at repairing the damage you have done half as long and focus on what you are going to do to make it right.
There’s a saying in Texas, “I’ve never seen a hearse pulling a U-Haul.” Mourn people, not shiny objects.
