She cares and wants to work hard
I met Julia Nichols about a year and a half ago at a St. .Mary’s Democratic Club meeting. She had already decided to run for office by that time.
She was exuberant. She knew the challenges that she would face and she was committed. Her family was 100 percent behind her, even though it would mean sacrifices all around, and her friends were lining up to volunteer in any way they could.
Team Julia was ready for the work ahead.
And the constituents of both counties have responded with enthusiasm. They know that Julia has put time and energy into listening to the folks of both counties about what they need to see from their delegate. She has been in their homes, in their communities and in their centers of care and learning — always in a spirit of collaboration.
She has surrounded herself with a team of people who are actively seeking solutions to bring stability, health, and security for all residents.
Julia’s approach is a direct contrast with our current Republican incumbent. Del. Gerald W. “Jerry” Clark was appointed almost two years ago and we know almost nothing about where he stands on issues or how he wants to resolve any of the challenges Calvert and St. Mary’s face in the shortterm or long-term future. He doesn’t use any of the myriad tools for communicating with the community, his responses in the debates are vague and non-committal, and he has offered almost no opportunities to meet him in person. The handful of bills that he has been the primary sponsor tell us only that he wants to expand hunting, try to get a grant for a youth center in Calvert County and repeal a $100 fee to dissolve a company. He has added his name to plenty of other bills, but any delegate can do that. He doesn’t seem to be interested in engaging with the process to improve the lives of Calvert and St. Mary’s residents.
Our region needs more. We need a delegate who cares and wants to work hard.
Julia has demonstrated her drive and work ethic through her entire campaign. She is transparent in what she supports and has proven time and again that she wants the community to be working with her to solve our issues.
If you want an engaged delegate who has worked incessantly and will continue to do so once elected, vote Julia Nichols for District 29C delegate on Nov. 6.
