Craft fair to be held tomorrow at Garvey
The Garvey Senior Activity Council is sponsoring a craft fair at the Leonard Hall Recreation Center on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Find holiday wreaths, Christmas ornaments, jewelry, crochet and embroidered items, cosmetics, candles, handmade soaps, handbags, baked goods and more. Art classes offered at the Loffler center
During the month of December, instead of four sessions, the Loffler center art instructor will offer two individual workshops. The first is on Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. and will feature making holiday cards using watercolor pencils and watercolor paper. Cost is $25, payable on that day. The second workshop will be Dec. 11. Cycling ride slated
A YES Cycling ride will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon on the Three Notch Trail, led by Dan and Diana Donahue. Ride lengths adjust to meet the needs of the group. The Northern Senior Activity Center has three bicycles and one trike available to borrow for local trips only. Christmas lunchtime sing-a-long planned
Diane Trautman will play holiday tunes on piano during lunch at the Garvey Senior Activity Center on Wednesday, Dec.
5, at noon. Following a roast pork meal, Kathy Creswell will lead a holiday sing-a-long with Trautman on piano and Tommy Chedester on bass. Sign up in advance by calling 301-475-4200, ext. 71050. Reservations are required; walk-ins for lunch or performance will not be accommodated.
Learn line dancing
A new session of R&B Line Dance is starting at the Garvey Senior Activity Center on Mondays, Dec. 6 to Jan. 18 at 1:30 p.m. Learn some of the line dances that are all the rage like the “Cupid Shuffle” or “The Wobble.” The cost is $12 and includes six classes, payable to Marie Bond; payment is due at time of reservation. The Northern Senior Activity Center will have a purse bingo on Friday, Dec. 7, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Win a new or a onetime-carried purse featuring popular brands. Holiday celebration at Garvey feature band
Come join for a performance by the duo Rearview Mirror at the Garvey Senior Activity Center on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at noon. This oldies variety, Iris Hirsch and Glenn Bullion, play a blend of rock and roll, R&B, pop, country, standards, disco and Motown. Along with the music, expect humor, music trivia and some dancing. Before the band, there will be a special holiday comedy performance by the senior center’s Reader’s Theater.
