Roughrider­s use bats in home win over St. Henry

St. Marys defeated St. Henry 13-6 in a nonleague baseball contest on Monday afternoon.

Andrew Ibrahim and Dylan Trogdlon split the pitching duties.

Ibrahim started and threw 3 2/3, allowing five runs on four hits and three walks. Trogdlon then pitched the other 3 1/3, with one run on four hits and one walk. Ibrahim struck out one and Trogdlon got four.

Braedan Trogdlon had four hits, drove in one run and scored four.

Dylan Trogdlon had a double and triple and three RBIs. Joey Caldwell had a double and single with two RBIs. Adam Tobin had two hits and an RBI. Ty Kiehl drove in two runs.

The Redskins came out hot, scoring five runs in the top of the first. They did so on two singles, a steal of home, followed by two errors and two more hits.

Singles by Braedan Trogdlon and Tobin plus a walk to Dylan Trogdlon loaded the bases for the Roughrider­s. Caldwell then hit a sac fly to left, with Trogdlon coming in from third.

St. Marys got a run in the third. Braedan Trogdlon singled with one out. After a second out, Dylan Trogdlon tripled to center.

The first four batters reached for SM in the fifth, with a double by Howell, a walk to Kiehl, and singles by Ibrahim and Braedan Trogdlon.

With Dylan Trogdlon at the plate, a wild pitch allowed Kiehl to score. Trogdlon then doubled to left, scoring Ibrahim and Braedan Trogdlon to put St. Marys ahead 6-5. A single and a double steal led to a seventh run for the Riders.

St. Marys tacked on four runs in the fifth, which featured a double by Ibrahim, singles by Trogdlon and Tobin, an error and a double from Caldwell.

The Riders then got two more runs in the sixth. St. Henry finally got a run in the seventh, but nothing else off of Trogdlon.

St. Marys will travel to Wapakoneta today for a WBL game. ———

BASEBALL Shawnee 9, New Bremen 0

LIMA — New Bremen was shut out by host Shawnee in a non league contest.

The Indians scored three in the second, three in the third, one in the fourth and two in the sixth.

The Cardinals were held to four hits on the day.

Reece Busse and Kyle Tenkman each pitched three innings for New Bremen.

Busse gave up six runs on five hits and and four walks. Tenkman allowed three runs on five hits and two walks. Busse had four strikeouts.

Mitchell Hays had two hits, with one each by Cody Petee and Vince Hulse.

New Bremen will host St. Henry today at 5 p.m.

SOFTBALL New Bremen 15, Covington 13

COVINGTON -New Bremen won a slugfest with Covington in non league play on Monday.

The Lady Cardinals dominated the first half of the game, scoring three, two, three, and six runs in the first four innings.

Covington had six runs in that stretch, leaving the Cards ahead 14-6. The Lady Bucs then scored five in the fifth.

New Bremen got a run in the seventh, which would prove key as Covington managed two in their final chance.

Allison Hays was the winner, throwing 4 1/3 innings. Alayna Ross finished up with 2 2/3 innings. Hays allowed 11 runs on nine hits and seven walks. Ross permitted two runs, one hit and three walks.

Hays struck out eight and Ross retired five that way.
