Tiffin cross country race draws large field

TIFFIN — Minster and New Bremen completed at the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival on Saturday morning.

Minster finished first in the girls Division III race with 79 points. Liberty Center was second (108), followed by West Liberty-Salem ((135); Fort Loramie (146); and Margaretta (237). New Bremen placed 11th in the 42-team field.

Maggie Hemmelgarn of Minster placed fourth with a time of 19:01, and Taylor Roth was sixth in a time of 19:09. Chaney Cedarleaf was 11th (19:40), with Cameo Cedarleaf (25th, 20:42) and Ava Stammen (33rd, 21:00) rounding out the top five. Morgan Ketner (35th, 21:02) and Rachel Niekamp (51st, 21:27) were also in action.

For the Lady Cardinals, Chloe Homan (20:28) and Caroline

Whitlach (20:29) led the pack in 19th and 20th, respective­ly, followed by Molly Dues (90th, 22:22); Lily Rindler (104th, 22:48); and Shaylee Boyle (125th, 23:22). Also in that race was Annie Jiang (143rd, 23:50.

Megan Adams of West Liberty-Salem took first place with a time of 18:36. There were over 270 competitor­s in that race.

The St. Marys girls ran in Division II. They played 19th of the 20 teams with 397 points.

Maria Jutte was 29th for the Lady Riders (21:14), followed by Ellen Schloemer (70th, 22:46); Karlie Lucas (83rd, 23:25); Liz Ackroyd (102nd, 24:51); and Raeh Wenhes (113th, 26:36). Also running were Kennedey Regedanz (28:02) and Zara Spees (30:29).

Eastwood was the team champion with 104, followed by Shelby and Akron St. VincentSt. Mary. The race winner was Shelby’s Kayla Gonzalez (18:46), with 125 runners in action. ————

BOYS

In the Division III race, Minster placed ninth and New Bremen was 15th in a field of 28.

Alex Albers led Minster with a 16th-place finish in 16:58, followed by Ryan Halpin (42nd, 17:40); Jack Grieshop (48th, 17:46); Tyler Prenger (87th, 18:40); and Jim Trzaska (90th, 18:48). Noah Walter had a time of 19:12.

Top finishers were New Bremen were Zach Ashman (46th, 17:45); Zach Wiedeman (60th, 18:02); Patrick Bernhold (86th, 18:39); Cole Powers (113th, 19:24);

and Sam Bernhold (125th, 19:41). Also in the field was Gavin Spragg (20:19).

Colten Gasson was the race winner, breaking the tape in 16:17. The race included over 180 runners.

In Division II, St. Marys placed 11th in the field of 33 squads. Tyler Birt placed 36th (17:35) to lead the Roughrider­s. He was followed by Calvin Morris (60th, 18:13); Seth Brandt (18:28); Michael Crites (87th, 18:33); and Ray Walter (130th, 19:37). Other runners were Dylan Hertenstei­n (20:37) and Brian Speckman (21:19).

Carroll was the team champion with 92 points. The race winner was Drennan Akins of CVCA (15:45). A total of 231 competitor­s ran the course.

Rangers run in Spencervil­le

SPENCERVIL­LE — Runners from New Knoxville competed at the Bearcat Invitation­al on Saturday.

In the boys’ Red Division race, Kaleb Putman finished 55th in a time of 21:02 and Elijah Lammers was 83rd with a time of 22.44

Brayden Yingst of Perry was the race winner with a time of 16:01.

Botkins finished in first place with 29 points, with Covington (75) second and Russia (89) third. there were 10 teams and runners from eight other schools for a total of 114 runners.

In the girls’ Red Division, Ella Resor of the Lady Rangers was 35th (24:30) and Rebecca Leffel was 40th (24:36.

Taylor Spencer of Waynesfiel­d-Goshen earned first place with a time of 19:21.

Botkins was the team champion with 32 points, followed by St. John’s (69) and St. Henry (76).

There were eight teams and runners from five other schools, with 73 runners in the field.
