Center receives funds from Wireless Zone Foundation

-

CELINA — Our Home Family Resource Center has received funding from the Wireless Zone Foundation for Giving®. This foundation was launched by the independent owners and operators of Wireless Zone® locations in 2003 upon the belief that local business should support local communities just as their local communities support them.

“This [funding] is a wonderful surprise” stated Our Home’s Marketing/Development Coordinator Deb Simon-Heinfeld. “With this investment into Our Home, the Wireless Zone® Foundation will be touching thousands of lives in Mercer County, and helping them find hope in the midst of crises.”

Over the past year Our Home’s Direct Services & Referral Program helped Mercer County neighbors “bridge the gap” when they were facing tight budgets and unexpected expenses. They responded to over 1100 requests for assistance with food, medical expenses, utility bills, rent, food, home repairs and transportation.

During that same time, Our Home’s Family Crisis Network provided emotional support services and criminal justice assistance to 409 clients (assault, sexual assault, domestic violence, kidnapping, stalking/harassment or criminal mischief), fielded over 1,000 calls to the 24-hour Crisis Helpline and provided over 797 bed nights to victims of domestic violence.

In addition to that, the RAFT Visitation Center at Our Home monitored visits for 20 families, providing for over 395 hours of safe, supervised family interaction for children who are separated from their parent(s) due to circumstances such as divorce, paternity claims, substance abuse and domestic violence.

Our Home is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located at 117 W. Fayette St. in Celina. The Direct Services & Referral Program hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; the food pantry operates from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursdays.
