City to celebrate Arbor Day

An Arbor Day celebration will be held at 10 a.m. today, at the Mill Park Shelter House on High Street near the canal. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Memorial trees will be dedicated and planted for friends and loved ones. The memorial plantings are a remembrance of the past; and at the same time, a renewing of life.

The City of St. Marys has been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to community forestry.

Residents of St. Marys should take pride in the fact that they live in a community where planting and nurturing trees is a priority.

Trees are a vital component of the infrastructure in cities and towns, providing environmental and health benefits for citizens.
