10 Years Ago (2012) The New Bremen softball team picked up a victory on the diamond in Midwest Athletic Conference play with a 13-8 triumph over the Fort Recovery Indians. Gina Greisdorn, Meagan Brandt, Haley Moeller, Julie Brown, and Chelsea Russell each homered in the same inning as the Cardinals recovered from a 5-4 deficit in the bottom of the fifth inning. Greisdorn and Brandt each finished the night with three hits.

25 Years Ago (1997) Despite a solid pitching performanc­e from starter Brian Kruse, the New Knoxville Rangers fell in Midwest Athletic Conference baseball action to Marion Local by a final of 1-0. Kruse went the distance in the victory and struck out eight Flyers batsmen and retired 13 of the final 14 in the contest, as the Flyers’ lone run came in the first inning. Luke Hegemier had two hits in the loss as New Knoxville slipped to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the MAC.

50 Years Ago (1972) The Minster baseball team picked up three victories in county league play by defeating New Knoxville twice and Waynesfiel­d-Goshen one time. In the first game vs. New Knoxville, Cork Poeppelman pitched a nine-inning one-hitter, striking out 14 batsmen as the Wildcats picked up the 2-0 victory. Bill Thobe also had two hits in the game. In round two against the Rangers, the Wildcats scored three times in the first inning and scattered eight hits through their lineup in a 4-3 triumph. Finally against Waynesfiel­d, Minster scored nine runs on five hits and forced six errors for the Tigers as they rolled to a 9-0 win.*
