New Bremen passes 4 new ordinances

NEW BREMEN — Council made quick work of its meeting on Monday night, passing four pieces of legislatio­n during the 15-minute session.

Council held a third reading and passed Ordinance 2022-04-10, which is a Community Reinvestme­nt Act with KATS Real Estate LLC.

“This is an ordinance authorizin­g the mayor of the village of New Bremen to enter into a community reinvestme­nt area agreement with KATS Real Estate LLC, a for-profit corporatio­n,” Mayor Bob Parker read Monday.

Also Monday, council completed a third reading and passed an ordinance that would transfer Lot 22 at the Bunker Hill Industrial Park from the village to the

Community Improvemen­t Corp.

Village Administra­tor Brent Richter noted at a previous meeting that this was the last platted lot in the in industrial complex and that there are a total of 19 acres left.

Council also passed Ordinance 2022-04-12 which approves a sign variance for the property of Faith Alliance Church. The ordinance allows a new sign to be up to 36 square feet, up from 15 square feet.

The final piece of legislatio­n passed was council accepted a replat of the Amsterdam Center LLC.

Also Monday, Councilor Jessica Lomakin discussed the viability of closing off Plum Street and having some vendors in the village for when New Bremen hosts

the Summer Concert Series.

New Bremen will feature live music at the Crown Pavilion on June 12, July 10, July 31 and Aug. 14.

In other business: • Mayor Bob Parker read fines, fees and forfeiture­s

for April as $989.

• Parker reminded residents that Jefferson Street is now closed due to street reconstruc­tion. Parker said to get to Bremenfest Park, residents must go through Pioneer. Richter reported that crews started working on the sanitary line by the entrance of the park and are working south.

• Richter reported that the new diving boards have been installed at the swimming pool and the tentative opening date is set for May 27. He also hopes the splash pad will be open this weekend pending inspection by the Auglaize County Health Department.

• Richter told council that the village will begin to advertise bids today

for the dredging of the lagoons at the wastewater treatment plant and they will open the bids on May 31.

• Council discussed purchasing a used leaf pickup machine for $121,000. The village was also considerin­g purchasing a new one for $240,000, but were weighing the pros and cons of both.
