Minster tabs Meyer as superinten­dent

MINSTER — Minster school board members Monday approved the hiring of Josh Meyer as school superinten­dent.

Meyer comes to Minster from Covington where he has served as the grades 7-12 principal for the last four years.

“I’m excited and honored and certainly blessed to be a part of the Minster school district,” Meyer said after Monday night’s meeting. “It’s a wonderful place with great programs, great students, terrific staff and excellent community support. I’m really looking forward to starting my time here and learning all about Minster and what makes it great and adding to those programs and getting going.”

Meyer is a graduate of Parkway High School and he received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Wright State University.

He taught middle school math and science at Cory Rawson for 12 years and also coached track, football and served as athletic director.

Before Covington, Meyer was at

Napoleon High School where he served as grades 7-12 assistant principal and athletic director.

Board members had the search narrowed down to four candidates with the other three being: Karen Rose, the curriculum coordinato­r for Mercer County ESC; Anna elementary principal John Holtzapple and

Marietta Schools superinten­dent Will Hampton.

Hampton was recently hired by Alexander Local Schools as its new superinten­dent.

The board approved Meyer to a two-year contract. He will replace current superinten­dent Brenda Boeke who is retiring at the end of the school year.

Also Monday, the board approved threeyear contracts for school psychologi­st Alicia Everman, K-6 Principal Leanne Keller and Treasurer Laura Klosterman.

The board accepted the resignatio­n of Josh Clune as the student support services director and approved a oneyear contract for Clune to serve as athletic director and assistant principal.

The board accepted the resignatio­ns of third grade teacher Megan DeMange and high school Spanish teacher Alexis Blum.

The board approved continuing contracts for fifth grade language arts teacher Melissa Brandewie and physical education and health teacher Jason Lammers.

The board approved a limited three-year contract for robotics/ industrial technology instructor Marcus Hileman.

The board approved limited two-year contracts for interventi­on specialist Kristi Counts; kindergart­en teacher Lindsey Hopkins; third grade teacher Kelly Hoying; kindergart­en teacher Caileigh Huelskamp; junior high language arts teacher Kenleigh Ludlow; interventi­on/resource English instructor Lisa Neuman; high school English teacher Brooke Schmerge; high school social studies teacher William Smith and interventi­on specialist Seth Whiting.

The board approved Darren Turner’s oneyear contract as tutor/ home instructio­n.

The board accepted the resignatio­n of custodian Stefanie Hall and approved a one-year contract for Andrew Roetgerman as facility manager and Natalie Elsass as custodian. In other business:

• An informatio­nal meeting on the school’s new drug testing policy will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday.

• Summer office hours will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. The high school office is open to students, staff and community members by appointmen­t. Contact the elementary office to be redirected to the high school.
